THE 1000TH POST

I fretted a bit about what should be my thousandth post here on The Evening Class and elected instead to simply use this entry as a benchmark from which I can look back to how this has all come to pass, and look forward to all I have yet to learn.

Thank you to all my readers, and all the publicists, film festival personnel, authors and filmmakers who have granted me access into the brightly lit hub of film culture.

Very hearty congrats are in order. I must say that though I hardly ever comment here, this was the very first film blog whose RSS feed I subscribed to -- almost at the beginning, in fact, back when I was fresh outta college, unemployed and unsure of what to do with myself. Two jobs and three years later I've gone from reading these pages to having my work at Slant and Bright Lights quoted in them. Mr. Guillen gave me an early, crucial glimpse of what film blogging could be if one put his strong foot forward. If you ever find yourself in the East Bay (I live in Alameda), allow me to buy you a celebratory drink. Cheers!

Not only 1000 posts, but 1000 chock-full-of-content posts. Mighty impressive sir.

Here's to at least another 1000 or so...

I'm flabbergasted that this is your 1000th post! I remember receiving an email from you in early 2006, telling me about The Evening Class -- I think the subject line was, "Weeeeeeeeee....I'm blogging." Now it's 3 1/2 years and 1000 posts later. I'm immensely proud of what you've accomplished, Michael, and immensely grateful for giving me opportunity to do some film writing of my own.

Thanks for the marker, Michael, now I know I only have 725 more Evening Class posts to read through in my eBook ;)

Congrats on the milestone, Michael. Look forward to a thousand more!

Cheers,
Adam
